Lots of Water
I’m sitting in the lobby of a hotel in Niagara Falls (USA) “hacking” into their wireless connection. We’ve been on the road for three days and we’ve gone over two thousand miles, but we’re almost to Boston! It will be worth it to finally have a car.
After driving all day from Chicago and having lunch in Toledo, OH, my mom and I got to Niagara Falls in time to see the sights before dark. The actual falls are really impressive, as is the vast amount of random tourist attractions that have popped up around the site. In my opinion, the Canadian side wins, even though we didn’t go over there today. We (the US) have the tops of the falls, but they have the views, and their city called “Niagara Falls” is bigger and has about three “Space Needle” looking things. It was really amazing to see all that water (75,000 gallons per second) going over the edge of a sheer cliff. We didn’t have time for the cave of the winds part, but I assume that it’s really really cool to be right at the bottom in the spray looking up at all that water. Also a bad idea if you have to use the bathroom.
Another interesting thing: I failed the Olin challenge. (The Olin challenge happens every time you leave the school. If you see anyone else from school that isn’t in your party, then you fail the challenge. Everyone almost ALWAYS fails for some reason, even though there are only 225 of us.) While we’re walking along the viewing area, we run into Eric V and Madge, who also happen to be on a cross-country driving trip to Olin. It was the most random and unlikely thing in the world, but it happened. Small world I guess.
So, now I’m in the (very noisy) hotel lobby typing this out. There is BOTH a night club AND a senior prom going on in this hotel, so there is more music and slick looking people than I can count. I really wish that I had my suit with me so that I could crash the prom, but I’m not sure that I actually would if I did have the suit. Maybe. But come on, why don’t they have their prom on the edge of the falls? Now THAT would be a cool spot…
