A Rainstorm Tried to Drive My Car

Well, I had a fun surprise when I went to drive to take a photo for my photography class last night. Unlock the car, sit down in the seat, pull my legs in and set my feet on the floor… *plop* *plop*

Wait a minute… that is not the right sound for feet in a car to make. Hmmm… Turns out that even though I had all windows, doors, and sunroofs closed, water had somehow magically leaked into the roof (supposedly through the sunroof’s seal) and through the driver’s side reading light. Wow. Luckily the leaking was contained to water falling only in the driver’s side footwell, which is somewhat of a lake, so not much was wet, but there was about an inch of standing water. I was VERY confused. Yet another reason why my car is a TOTAL LEMON. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing a VW in my life anymore, which is too bad, because I liked everything about the car before it started breaking left and right.

In other news, Olin’s new website version rolled out today. After a brief period of only saying “Microsoft OLE Database Access Error” or something along those lines, they got it working and I have to say that I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’s not quite as colorful or exciting as the last one, but it also looks less like a toy and more like a real school. We’ll see how content changes, because that’s where some of the real work is needed. It also needs to be linked up to all of the faculty and student pages, etc. etc. No more of this hiding things away from the public. They deserve to know the dirty and glorious truth of the school. :)

Finally, after about four hours of searching forums for the poorly documented and collected plugins, I finally have Foobar looking pretty spiffy. I have album art displaying for all my stuff, a spectrum analyzer thingy, nice columns of info for the library, playlist panel, etc. Cool. Even with all this stuff on and music playing, it still takes up 8 megs of RAM. Very cool. I’m a fan of the minimal, but I don’t recommend it for non-power users. Still, it’s better than iTunes since it doesn’t start stuttering if I try to run any other program. Hooray.

My Foobar Setup

School’s going well. I’m hoping this rainy weather lets up soon. I’d like some more sun and regular fall before dreary winter hits.
