School is Always So Busy

Hey all. I’m writing this from my HOTHOT new 19″ LCD monitor. Thank you Fatwallet.com for making it easy to find good deals. I can’t believe how crappy the old old CRT I was using really was. I guess you don’t really notice until you get something new. I feel like I’m too close the the stinking thing. It’s so much bigger than I’m used to. GLORIOUS!

I picked up the new Switchfoot album yesterday and it is pretty hot. I really like their sound now, and I also really think it’s cool that they’ve been able to transition from an unknown but good christian band into a popular mainstrem band and not “sell their souls” as it were. I always think it’s really funny when people are like, “Have you heard of that new band called Switchfoot?” and I’m like, “Well, yes, and I have all 5 of their CDs.” Lol.

Music in general is really great. Last night I spent a lot of time customizing my foobar (which is the audio player that I use now.) I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who’s not at least marginally tech savvy, but for those who are, it’s way cool and REALLY lightweight. If you use the default UI and stop the audio, it takes up a grand total of about 400K in RAM. Do you realize how much better than is than FATTY iTunes or Winamp? Yeah.

I’m also on last.fm now. It’s a cool service that works off a plugin in foobar (or any other audio player.) It broadcasts what I’m listening to on the fly to the web, aggregates for people in groups (like everyone from my school that uses it,) and suggests new music that you might like. Cool.

Lets see, what else? Classes are busy as usual, but I’m keeping my schedule fairly open. I applied to be a Big Brother for a school-based program at a nearby elementary (there are a good amount of Olin folks who do it) so that should be fun. All in all, life is pretty good. I may never catch up with my todo list, but I think I’m ok with that.
