Lounge is Finished

Soooooooo. Our lounge room is finally finished being set up and most things are out of the way (except for a few things that still need to be taken to storage.) It’s pretty sweet in fact. Let’s take a look at the common marks of a successful college guy environment:

  • Lots of junk food? Check.
  • 3 TVs with 6 gaming systems? Check.
  • Cinder block furniture? Check.
  • Fridge stocked with loads of sugery sodas? Check.
  • Comfy couches and chairs? Check.
  • Cool and eclectic posters? Check.
  • Truckloads of women? … Ummm, we’ll work on that one.

We’ve even got some really cool posters by a semi-famous Japanese artist that are centerfold-esqe poses of ROBOT GIRLS. They are (in my humble opinion) the perfect expression of engineering geekdom. We’re probably the only people that would put such obscure oddities up on our walls. And I love it that way.

Here are some photos of the new space:

Lounge 1

This is a shot looking in at the lounge area from the doorway. Our TV and gaming setup is to the left and the seating is all to the right. There’s a large window looking out on some soon-to-be-landscaped dirt in the back. Dean is busily playing a martial arts game (what else would he be playing?)

Lounge 2

Here’s a shot from inside the lounge looking back towards the doorway. We have a full-sized fridge and freezer with microwave that came with the room. Next to it is our awesome $20 Target shelf for holding all of the junk food that will inevitably accumulate and disappear throughout the year. The hallways to the singles and bathrooms/sinks/showers are directly to the left and right. (The suite lounge is directly in the center, with three singles to either side.)

I’m not going to lie, it’s a pretty darn swanky setup. And now that we have hot water in our showers, I have virtually no complaints. This is shaping up to be a pretty good year … if only it wasn’t for all that pesky work that keeps cropping up …
