Nickel Creek

I just got back from the Nickel Creek concert that I went to tonight. Wow. That’s all I have to say. It’s such an amazing experience watching them play live. I literally almost cried because (a) their music is really beautiful and (b) they have more musical talent in their pinky fingers than I will ever hope to attain in my whole life. From mixing songs together to throwing random covers into the middle of well known songs to being TOTALLY crazy at improvisation and playing at lightning speed to the bass player TAP DANCING, they were completely amazing. It was a really really entertaining time.

Here’s a photo I managed to snap with my camera phone on zoom. Turns out that zooming makes the photo smaller. Who knew?

Nickel Creek

I went to the concert with my good friends Brian and Lindsay. We left early and ate at Bertucci’s (yummy yummy Italian) and then took the T down to Park Street station and the Orpheum theatre, where we proceded to have our minds blown. Below is a photo of me in my new tshirt with my mind blown by the incredible talent that is Nickel Creek.

Mind is Blown

I think that one of the reasons why they are so good and so much fun to watch is that they HAVE a lot of fun while they play. They dance around the stage, look at each other and interact, make musical jokes and conversation during their solos. It’s just amazing. If I were not an engineer or a photographer, I would be a musician. I can think of nothing I’d rather do than having that much fun blowing people’s minds every night with music.

Nickel Creek is truly awesome. Last time I saw them, they did their encore *unplugged* and had everyone crowd the stage to listen; it was amazing. I think the bass player actually does clogging rather than tapdancing — it probably doesn’t matter what you call it, just ‘clogging’ has more folk cred for me than tap does :-)

Hi Sean. My mom told me that you had a wibsite and that I should check it out. It’s pretty cool! How’s school going? My semester is pretty busy. I have a xanga site, but I’m not quite sure how to direct you to it. I hope you have a good weekend. I’ll try and figure out my xanga site.
